Tom Giere has been involved in the accounting profession since graduating with honors from Wright State University in 1981. Tom gained valuable accounting experience with a Fortune 500 company before entering public accounting in 1984 as a manager in the tax department of an international firm.
He joined our practice in 1989 and was named a partner and owner in 1992. At Nolan, Giere & Company Tom primarily works in tax planning and compliance for businesses and individuals. With his experience and education, which includes a Master of Science degree in taxation from the University of Cincinnati, he helps clients analyze and implement complex tax strategies to minimize the impact of federal, state and local taxes.
Tom also works extensively in estate and gift tax, succession planning, management consulting and strategic planning.
Tom is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is an officer and actively involved with the Troy Rotary Club.
Since graduating from Ohio University in 1984, Kim has been involved in the accounting profession in private industry and public accounting. Kim joined the firm in 1990 as a staff accountant. Since then she has gained valuable experience in financial and tax planning for corporations and individuals.
Upon earning her master’s in taxation in 1996 at Capital University Law School, Kim was promoted to manager. She was named an partner and owner in the firm in 2000.
Kim is involved primarily in tax planning and compliance for businesses and individuals. She is active in the Troy Kiwanis Club and is a city ambassador for the Troy Chamber of Commerce. Kim is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Michelle graduated from Wright State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a mater’s of accountancy. She joined the firm in 2008 and was promoted to a supervisor in 2013.
Michelle primarily serves closely-held businesses in retail, service and manufacturing. Michelle has experience in tax planning and compliance for businesses and individuals.
Michelle is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Troy., She was the 2015 Tipp City Mum Festival President and is currently serving as Treasurer of the Tipp City Mum Festival Michelle serves on the Board of the Brukner Nature Center. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Derek graduated with an undergraduate in Accounting and a Masters in Accountancy from Wright State University. While attending Wright State University Derek was involved with Beta Alpha Psi and the Accounting Club. Derek joined the firm as a staff accountant in the summer of 2013 and received his CPA certification in March 2016 and promoted to supervisor in 2016.
Derek works in tax planning, payroll preparation, financial statement preparation, and personal and corporate tax preparation.
Derek is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Troy Rotary Club, a graduate of the 2016 Leadership Troy class and recipient of the 2016/2017 Troy Rotary Charlie Doyle Service Award. Derek volunteers as a board member for the United Way of Troy.
Heather is a graduate of Wright State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and finance. Prior to joining the firm in 2002, Heather worked for a not-for-profit and a local firm in Dayton.
Heather was promoted to senior accountant in 2009 and has experience in tax planning and compliance for businesses and individuals.
Heather serves as treasurer on the Troy Mayor’s Concert Board. She also volunteers and supports the Troy High School band, cross country and track programs. She is the Treasurer of The Future Begins Today organization in Troy.
Erin graduated in 2014 from Sinclair Community College with an Associate's degree in Accounting and received her CPA certification in September 2017. Before pursuing an accounting career, she received bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Wright State University and taught middle school math and reading for ten years.
Erin has experience in payroll preparation and reporting, as well as income tax preparation.
Erin is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and the Institute of Management Accountants. She also volunteers with her daughter's local girl scout troop and enjoys spending time with her family.
Claudia is a 2013 graduate from Wright State University, with honors of Magna Cum Laude, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Accountancy. She also has a degree in Business Finance from California State University of Fullerton. She brings tax experience to Nolan, Giere & Company. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Claudia has lived in Europe and traveled all over the world. She enjoys working out at the gym. She is originally from California and currently resides in Piqua.
Tina, who joined the firm in 2011 as an administrative assistant, has years of experience in the accounting, legal and banking industries, as well as private industry, since attending Sinclair Community College.
Outside of the office, Tina enjoys attending and participating in sporting events. When she is not at home, outside of Tipp city, she spends time at Norris Lake with her husband, son and daughter.
Bobbye joined our firm with twenty plus years of experience as a Firm Administrator. She attended Edison Community college, is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Piqua and a former member of the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce Women in Networking Steering Committee. In 2011, Bobbye received The Piqua Rotary Club’s Pride of Workmanship Award.
Bobbye enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as with friends. She and her husband enjoy motorcycling.
